It was a chilly three degree start to the day as the Year 11 students, along with Ms. Thomas, Mr. Gobbo and Ms. Mascaro headed off on school buses to Deakin University Burwood Campus, for a day out at Deakin. The day involved touring the Burwood Campus with Deakin student ambassadors.

The nursing labs were a highlight where real life simulator patients are part of every day action, ensuring that nursing students’ fingers are continually kept on the pulse! Year 11s also had the opportunity to experience this. They also attended one of two presentations on either Courses and Careers in Law, or Courses and Careers in Sport and Health Sciences, as well as hearing from Oakleigh Grammar Alumni, Renee Derimboglou, who is a current Deakin student, talking about her experience as a university student.

She gave some handy tips and advice to our students, and Luke Ridgwell from Deakin Student Recruitment, also presented the degree options at Deakin, and pathways to Deakin. Despite the chill, the sun was out making it an even brighter day for our careers excursion!
