Ms Fitzgerald selected for a key appointment

At the recent IB Schools Australasia annual AGM, our very own Melissa Fitzgerald, was voted into the IB School Australasia Standing Committee for 2022-2024. This role comes on the back of being appointed the Chair of the MYPC Victoria/Tasmania Network in July 2022.

Melissa is our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme Coordinator and previously taught at two international schools in Dubai, UAE including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).  Recent highlights include completing a Master of Education (Leading Education), and Facilitating at the Australasian Principals and Coordinators Meeting in June. She enjoys writing and has published articles on Celebrating Service and Action, the Personal Project, and the Remote Evaluation Visit Experience.

Melissa says that as an IB learner she strives to be open-minded. Although she understands and appreciates being Australian and her own personal history, she loves learning about other perspectives.

“I believe that with the globalisation of education, the IB offers an authentic academic programme focussed on supporting young people to develop real-world skills. I hope to share my love of IB through promoting the programmes and supporting IB educators throughout Australasia”, commented Melissa.

We are honoured and proud of our exceptional staff and we congratulate Melissa on this important appointment.
