Year 3 Royal Botanic Gardens Excursion

The Year 3s had a wonderful adventure attending the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Shrine of Remembrance to complement our studies on Community and Remembrance.

The students gained a greater understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture. They experienced making and using ochre paint, and held Aboriginal artefacts. The students enjoyed touring the gardens and learning about the various plants and their significance, including Aboriginal bush tucker. Emphasis was placed on diversity and examining sustainable land practices used by Aboriginal people.

From there we walked to the Shrine of Remembrance. We toured through the amazing Memorial Museum and participated in a commemoration ceremony.

We had a fantastic day and the weather was glorious!
