Learning Challenge and Growth

Term 3 is a wonderfully full and purposeful term in our Junior School. As we move into the second half of the academic year, our focus is on building on our Semester 1 learning, challenging ourselves and striving to achieve to our highest capabilities. Exceeding the Expected.

This term, we encourage our students to draw on their learning and apply it in new and increasingly challenging ways. As we progress through the year, there is an elevation in our expectations. We want students to take greater ownership of their learning, persist when learning becomes challenging and recognise that effort, reflection and a willingness to learn are essential to growth.

There is certainly no shortage of opportunities to learn, explore and be challenged this term. Alongside our rich classroom learning, students will participate in exciting educational experiences including Book Week, Science Week, Literacy and Numeracy Week, as well as opportunities designed to extend their thinking, creativity, curiosity and problem-solving.

Our Leader in Me principles continue to guide how we approach learning and life at Oakleigh Grammar. We encourage students to be in charge of themselves, accountable for their choices and actively engaged in their learning. Our 7 Habits provide practical strategies to help students take responsibility, work effectively with others and maintain respectful and kind interactions with their peers.

Students will also continue exploring our Round Square Discovery Heroes, considering how their attributes can support us in our learning, relationships and personal growth. These experiences encourage students to reflect on the qualities that help us become courageous, curious, compassionate and principled learners.
Term 3 is a time to step up, draw on what we know, embrace challenge and make the most of every opportunity to grow. We look forward to seeing our students demonstrate their learning, leadership and character as they continue to strive for their personal best.
