At Oakleigh Grammar’s Early Learning Centre, we believe every child is capable, curious and full of potential.
Our nurturing educators create a joyful environment where children feel safe to explore, express and grow - laying the foundation for confident lifelong learning.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our program views children as active participants in their own learning. We foster creativity, independence and collaboration through:
Inquiry-based learning encourages children to follow their curiosity and take an active role in their learning.
Through open-ended questions, hands-on exploration, and meaningful discussions, children investigate topics that genuinely spark their interest.
Educators carefully guide these discoveries, helping children build confidence, develop critical-thinking skills, and make connections to the world around them.
Relationship-driven teaching is at the heart of our practice. We prioritise strong, genuine connections between educators, children, and families, creating a foundation of trust and belonging.
When children feel safe, valued, and understood, they are more confident to explore, take risks, and engage deeply in their learning.
Our educators invest time in getting to know each child and family, fostering meaningful partnerships that support each child’s wellbeing and growth.
We view the environment as the third teacher, shaping how children learn, interact, and discover.
Our bright, inviting spaces are intentionally arranged to encourage curiosity, creativity, and meaningful relationships. Carefully selected materials, natural elements, and open-ended invitations support children to inquire, problem-solve, and engage in rich, self-directed learning.
The environment becomes a partner in the educational process, supporting children’s agency and wellbeing
Our ELC welcomes children into a thoughtfully curated, play-based environment that honours their natural curiosity and capacity for learning.
With flexible attendance options, each day is shaped by a responsive, Reggio-inspired curriculum that values exploration, relationships, and the wonder of discovery.
Our day includes a balance of intentional teaching, child-led inquiry, and meaningful routines that support each child’s sense of belonging and wellbeing.

Our Pre Prep Students participates in the Early Childhood Language Program (ECLP). Through this initiative, children engage in Greek language learning as a natural part of their daily experiences.
A qualified language educator introduces Greek through meaningful, play-based opportunities.
This early exposure supports children’s cognitive development, strengthens communication skills, and nurtures an appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity.
For families with Hellenic heritage, the program offers a valuable connection to cultural identity, while all children benefit from the rich perspectives that bilingual learning brings to our community.
Our Prep Transition Program is thoughtfully designed to ensure children experience a calm, confident, and connected move into Junior School.
The transition begins early in the year and unfolds gradually, allowing relationships, familiarity, and readiness to grow over time.
By the time children begin Prep, they already recognise the people, places, and routines of the Junior School, feeling a strong sense of belonging within the Oakleigh Grammar community.
