The Intensive English Language Program’s Imaginarium

On Tuesday the 3rd of September, Oakleigh Grammar’s Intensive English Language students stepped bravely out of their comfort zone, public speaking in front of their peers.

Each student was tasked with writing and reading aloud their imaginative piece of writing to a court of three judges, and their fellow students. We were lucky enough to have visiting students from Alphington Grammar contribute their pieces on the day as well.

In between speeches, the very talented Adrienne Bay, performed hulusi music (Chinese flute), as students and teachers followed her to several destinations around the School, mimicking the Pied Piper. From the inner to the outer yard, then finishing in the library, the event was a huge success.

Well done to all IELP students for speaking so well, and a special congratulations to Yixin Liang from OG who came first, Peter from Alphington who came second, and Zhenhua Mai from OG for placing third. All speakers did tremendously well, which is a testament to their hard work and determination. A huge thank you to Louise Crossley, our ELICOS Course Coordinator, for orchestrating the event, we look forward to the next instalment.
