At Oakleigh Grammar, we prepare students not just for exams, but for life.
Our Careers Guidance Program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to plan for their future, make informed choices, and take meaningful steps toward their goals.
Middle and Senior School students are encouraged to explore career options and the world of work.
Students are exposed to many on-campus careers events at Oakleigh Grammar such:
Students also attend careers events externally. Excursions include visits to Career and Tertiary Education expos, University and TAFE Campus Tours, Tertiary Open Days and participation in the Year 10 Work Experience program.
Our Careers Advisor is available to assist students with course and careers advice, VCE subject selection, job applications, resume creation and mock interview practice.
The Advisor can also help Year 12 students with their VTAC applications and guidance with their post school options.
Parents/guardians are also welcome to make appointments and the door is always open to our Alumni students for further careers guidance they may require.

Each student develops a Career Action Plan as part of their career development learning journey that include a portfolio containing a resume and references, achievements and awards, as well as their career goal reflections, and their own course and career research documents.
At Year 10 students begin their career development by completing the Morrisby Report, a 20 page personalised report which identifies a student’s strengths, career interests and some aspects of personality. This information is blended to provide career suggestions and VCE subject suggestions for discussion with our Careers Advisor.
Regular updates on Career events and other careers information appears in our weekly careers newsletter located on the Oakleigh Grammar Careers website as well as the regular school-wide newsletter, Grammar News.
Students receive expert guidance in preparing university and TAFE applications, apprenticeships, and alternative pathways. Careers workshops, expos, and guest speaker programs give them the tools and confidence to transition smoothly into the next stage of life.
Work experience opportunities give students a real-world perspective on different industries and career paths. Partnerships with local businesses and organisations provide meaningful insights, helping students connect their classroom learning with practical workplace skills.
