Oakleigh Grammar proudly commenced Term 3 with a memorable Commencement Assembly, bringing together students, staff and members of the Board to celebrate the values, achievements and people that continue to shape the School community.
The Assembly marked a particularly significant occasion as Oakleigh Grammar recognised Principal, Mr Mark Robertson, for 15 years of dedicated leadership. Since his appointment in 2011, Mr Mark Robertson has led the School through a period of remarkable growth and transformation, championing excellence in education while fostering a culture of belonging, opportunity and innovation.
In a heartfelt tribute, students from the Early Learning Centre, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School presented Mr Robertson with gifts of appreciation, acknowledging the lasting impact of his leadership across every stage of the Oakleigh Grammar journey. Chair of the Board, Mr Chris Damatopoulos, presented Mr Robertson with a commemorative 15-year service pin and certificate in recognition of this significant milestone.
Reflecting on his 15 years of leadership, Mr Mark Robertson said, “Our welcome to Term Three Assembly was a celebration of Oakleigh Grammar’s talented students and committed staff. It showcased Art, Music, Sport and inspiring student speakers. Over the past 15 years I have seen our students mature into responsible, capable young adults who embody our values of Humility, Aspiration, Respect and Kindness. Our caring and committed staff put our students at the centre of all that we do, nurturing them to achieve their academic best. It is a privilege to be the current custodian of this great school”
The Assembly also celebrated the dedication of Oakleigh Grammar staff, with several team members recognised for their longstanding service to the School. Their collective years of service represent an extraordinary commitment to the education, wellbeing and growth of generations of Oakleigh Grammar students.
Staff Service Recognition:
The School also warmly welcomed new staff members joining Oakleigh Grammar across teaching, learning support, administration and Early Learning Centre roles. Their arrival reflects the School’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its community and providing exceptional learning experiences and support for students from the Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.
Student achievement and participation were also celebrated throughout the Assembly, with Certificates of Recognition presented to students who represented Oakleigh Grammar at the 2026 National Schools Event (NSE).
Adding to the celebrations, Junior School students showcased their musical talents through two performances. Year 2 students Chris and Alexandra performed When the Saints Go Marching In on saxophone, followed by a keyboard quartet performance of Oom Pa Pa featuring Year 4 student Zoe and Year 5 students Katherine, George and Evdokia. Their performances highlighted the confidence, creativity and talent that continue to flourish within the Oakleigh Grammar community.
As Oakleigh Grammar embarks on another exciting term, the Commencement Assembly served as a powerful reminder of the people and values at the heart of the School. Guided by Humility, Aspiration, Respect and Kindness, the Oakleigh Grammar community looks forward to the opportunities, experiences and successes that Term 3 will bring.
