Oakleigh Grammar has proudly celebrated the achievements of two exceptional alumni at the third annual Alumni Hall of Fame event, held at the School’s N P Nikolakakis Centre for Academic Excellence. The evening brought together alumni, families, staff and distinguished guests to recognise the outstanding contributions of this year’s inductees and the global impact of their careers.

Principal Mark Robertson passionately addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of celebrating alumni achievement and its role in inspiring current and future students. Reflecting on the successful event, Principal Robertson spoke of the impact the Alumni Hall of Fame continues to have.

“Our Alumni Hall of Fame reflects the strength of the Oakleigh Grammar community and the remarkable journeys of those who once walked our corridors. It is a privilege to honour alumni whose achievements not only bring pride to our School but also demonstrate the lasting impact of an Oakleigh Grammar education.”

Head of Marketing Daniel Ware also spoke at the event, noting the continued growth of the Hall of Fame and its role within a broader commitment to building a connected and engaged alumni community.

The 2026 inductees, Asimenia Kousouraki (Class of 1998) and Apostolos Giannou (Class of 2007), were formally recognised as the fifth and sixth members of the Alumni Hall of Fame. Both inductees are currently based overseas and unable to attend in person – a reflection of the global opportunities embraced by Oakleigh Grammar graduates, and the impact they continue to make beyond the School community.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from both inductees through pre-recorded video messages, offering personal reflections on their journeys and reinforcing the enduring connection they maintain with Oakleigh Grammar despite living abroad.

Asimenia Kousouraki has built a distinguished career in the global aerospace industry, spending more than two decades with Airbus Defence and Space in Germany. A PhD-qualified aerospace engineer, she now leads major investment portfolios and contributes to shaping future air power technologies – an example of innovation, leadership and excellence on the international stage.

Apostolos Giannou has forged an impressive international football career across Greece, China, Cyprus, India and Australia. A former Socceroo who earned 12 caps and competed at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, his journey reflects resilience, adaptability and a commitment to pursuing opportunity on a global scale.

Each inductee was introduced by School Captains and recognised through the unveiling of commemorative portraits by Board Chairman Chris Damatopoulos along with Principal Robertson, with awards accepted on their behalf by family members. Heartfelt tributes from family members added a personal dimension to the evening, celebrating both achievement and character.

The event concluded with continued celebrations, marking another meaningful milestone in the School’s growing alumni program and reinforcing the lifelong connection between Oakleigh Grammar and its graduates – wherever in the world they may be.

Oakleigh Grammar extends its sincere congratulations to Asimenia Kousouraki and Apostolos Giannou on their induction, as the Alumni Hall of Fame continues to honour alumni excellence and inspire future generations of students.
