The Oakleigh Grammar community came together to celebrate the Class of 2026 in a meaningful day of reflection, gratitude and celebration, honouring the students’ journey through the School and the experiences, relationships and achievements that have shaped their time at Oakleigh Grammar.
The day commenced with a special Doxology (Thanksgiving Service), bringing students, families and staff together in a moment of reflection and thanksgiving. Grounded in the School’s Orthodox Christian faith, the service provided an opportunity to give thanks for the graduating cohort’s journey and reflect on the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.
The celebrations continued with the Year 12 Farewell Assembly, where the achievements of the Class of 2026 were recognised and the support of the wider School community acknowledged. Principal Mark Robertson and Board Chairman Chris Damatopoulos presented Certificate of Achievement Awards to students who achieved outstanding results across their VCE Units 3 and 4 subjects, recognising their academic commitment, perseverance and dedication to their studies.
The assembly also provided an opportunity for the Class of 2026 to acknowledge the teachers and staff who have supported them throughout their educational journey. Students expressed their appreciation for the guidance, encouragement and care they have received, recognising the important role these individuals have played in their learning and growth.
One of the highlights of the assembly was the traditional presentation of graduation sashes by Prep students. Each Year 12 student crossed the stage to receive their sash, marking an important milestone in their school journey. With Prep students just beginning their time at Oakleigh Grammar, the tradition brought together students at opposite ends of their school journeys, reflecting the connections that make up the School community.
Video messages from key people who have positively influenced the students throughout their years at Oakleigh Grammar provided another opportunity to reflect on the friendships, shared experiences and milestones that have shaped the Class of 2026’s final year.
Reflecting on the occasion, Principal Mark Robertson shared:
“The Year 12 Leavers Assembly reflected the strong emotional ties our graduating students have with their school. The morning commenced with a Doxology and Thanksgiving Service, followed by morning tea and concluded with the formal Assembly. The Assembly provided an opportunity for reflection, laughter and of course tears shared with parents, staff and the wider student body. Poignant moments included our prep students presenting the graduating cohort with a 2026 graduation sash memento and some video messages from key people who had positively impacted their school years.”
As the Class of 2026 prepares for their final examinations and the next stage of their lives, Oakleigh Grammar celebrates not only their achievements, but also the growth, character and contributions they have brought to the School community. Guided by the values of Humility, Aspiration, Respect and Kindness, students carry forward the knowledge, experiences and connections gained throughout their time at Oakleigh Grammar as they embrace the opportunities ahead.
Oakleigh Grammar congratulates the Class of 2026 and wishes every student success in their examinations and the journey beyond the School gates.
