Paradise Kids for Africa are full volunteer organisations raising funds for Faith, Food and Education in some of the poorest nations on Earth. They sponsor missionaries all around the world, including Orthodox Monk Reverend Themi Adamopoulo, who has served in Africa for over 20 years, from the East Coast to the West Coast. Rev Themi’s mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to meet the needs of the poor and needy in the name of Jesus, and through the love of Jesus without discrimination.
Both Year 8 classes are raising money for this wonderful cause, and have set a target of $20.00 from their own funds, as a monthly donation to the Orthodox Mission, run by Father Themi in Sierra Leone. So far they have exceeded their target, as well as raising over $500.00 through additional fundraising initiatives.
We have invited Father Themi to visit our school and he will be speaking to students from the Middle School about his work and the mission in Sierra Leone. This event will take place on: Wednesday, 6th September at 1.30pm.
With this in mind the Middle School is raising much needed funds to help those who have been affected by the recent floods and mudslides which occurred around Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown. A collection will take place from Monday September 4th to Wednesday September 6th.
We are reminded that:
“If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.” (Deut. 15:7)
